sparrows

March 21, 2025

I saw a flock of sparrows in a
silver filigree
And I stood in pure delight for now
I know just what it means
A month or two ago they dug and hid
in rugged holes
Feathers huddled up together to
protect them from the cold
But now the clouds have thinned
and I've seen mist begin to fall
As the thinnest veil of privacy while
Spring begins to sprawl
The air is crisp upon my face
and I'm joyfully enthralled
How truly strange and lovely to be
anything at all
